Some Google Maps users may have a major issue with the app.

Google Maps might show you directions to a restaurant or store that is closed.
Google Maps provides helpful, spoken directions for users to arrive at their destinations quickly. The app has been updated to include traffic lights and stop signs as landmarks for turns, similar to Apple Maps. Instead of indicating a turn in a quarter of a mile, Google Maps will specify turning at the next stop sign or the second traffic light.
Besides directions, Google Maps helps users locate places to eat, sleep, get gas, and more. However, a number of Reddit users have requested a specific change to the app. Currently, when searching for a location such as "UPS near me," a filter labeled "Open now" appears near the top of the results.
Tapping this button filters the results to show only locations that are currently open. This filter option disappears when adding a stop to an active route.
If a driver wants to add a coffee shop to their route, they might arrive to find it closed. Although the app typically displays hours of operation, it can be easily missed. Sanuj Bhatia from Android Police shared his experiences in Vietnam, where he encountered numerous closed restaurants recommended by Google Maps.
A Reddit user suggested that the "Open now" toggle should be enabled by default when searching along an active route. The user argued that closed restaurants are irrelevant when navigating in real-time.
Until Google implements this suggestion, users should check the "Open now" filter before starting a route. When adding a last-minute stop during navigation, it is important to verify the location's hours of operation to avoid wasted trips.
