T-Mobile is reportedly using its Tuesdays promotion to boost sales at corporate stores.

T-Mobile reps use aggressive tactics to sell accessories, insurance, and lines to customers simply picking up their T-Mobile Tuesday swag.
T-Mobile appears to be moving toward becoming a digital carrier, but T-Mobile Tuesdays remains a feature of the T-Life app. Subscribers will use the app to manage their accounts as incoming CEO Srini Gopalan plans to close retail locations and reduce staff to improve profits and increase stock value.
Some T-Mobile subscribers allege that the company is using its reward program to benefit itself rather than its customers. One Philadelphia customer often visits the store at 1201 Market Street when T-Mobile Tuesdays offers physical rewards like water bottles, sunglasses, or magenta crayon boxes.
This customer said that he previously visited the store, tapped the app, and quickly received the reward. The process took about a minute, he noted. However, the process has now changed. The customer visited the Market Street store and was told to sign in and wait 10-15 minutes. Five other customers were also waiting.
The delay is because T-Mobile is using the visits to make sales pitches. The customer stated, "If all the stores are doing this, I'm just going to delete that stupid T-Mobile Tuesday app. It's not worth the hassle or disrespect. These aren't perks if I have to go in and get treated like I'm being asked to buy a time-share."
T-Mobile has been using T-Mobile Tuesdays to influence its subscribers. Last year, the company stopped allowing customers to pick up rewards at third-party retail stores, limiting pickups to corporate-owned locations. Another customer wrote, "It’s grimy because the giveaways used to be a fun perk for customers. After the merger they became a way to get people into the store to do a full account checkup."
When a customer visits to pick up a reward, a representative reviews the account to identify potential sales opportunities. For instance, one subscriber recalled that when picking up stadium bags, the representative attempted to sell 5G Home internet service.
T-Mobile Tuesdays might be a beneficial program, but it is also a tool to encourage customers to buy accessories, add lines, or upgrade phones. However, some customers have different experiences. One subscriber wrote, "My local store is just walk in tap and go. Today they didn't even ask me to hit redeem. Just showed them I had the T-Life app, and they gave me the item. Never had to wait and usually stop at different ones depending on where I am at."
