Many remain unconvinced by the vision shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Apple CEO Tim Cook. Most believe that AR smart glasses will never replace smartphones, but I disagree.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display, previewed in September, aren't truly AR glasses. However, I foresee them becoming a popular smartphone accessory, especially if other companies release their own versions. With true AR and increased functionality, these glasses could be very successful.
I would choose AR glasses over my phone. Imagine watching a movie on a huge virtual screen during a flight, or dismissing notifications with a thumb flick (Meta’s neural wristband is impressive).
I believe Mark Zuckerberg is on the right track, and Cook is right to be concerned. Meta has a decade of research and user data, so Apple will need to work hard to compete with Zuckerberg’s product.
However, given the development of Apple Intelligence, I’m currently skeptical.
