The CEO of MobileX is urging T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T to assist people who have lost food stamps in maintaining their internet access.

MobileX is offering free talk, text, and 2GB of Data to those who have lost their food stamps due to government shutdown.
MobileX CEO Peter Adderton is urging leaders at major carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile to assist those in need, emphasizing that it is "the right thing to do." MobileX announced on Tuesday that it will cover the cost of its wireless service for customers who have lost federal food assistance. Specifically, MobileX customers who have lost SNAP benefits will receive unlimited talk and text, along with up to 2GB of data per month, for the duration of their benefit suspension.
This offer excludes the $14.88 or $24.88 Unlimited plans for new subscribers. Current MobileX plan users will have their existing plans covered during the SNAP benefit disruption. Regular options start at $3.48 monthly, excluding taxes and surcharges.
Adderton stated that as one of the few remaining independent wireless carriers, they prioritize people over profits. He affirmed that MobileX will cover a wireless plan for anyone who loses SNAP benefits for as long as the benefits are suspended, emphasizing that connectivity is essential for families to connect with employers, schools, and loved ones. He said that they are stepping up to ensure no one loses this lifeline due to government issues.
MobileX subscribers can create their own 5G plan using the MobileX app on Android or iOS devices. By selecting the Build Your Own tab, users pay only for the 5G data they require, without needing to speak to a representative or visit a store. Activation is quick, and MobileX states that customers can access one of the fastest 5G networks available. Sign-ups are also available at mymobilex.com, Walmart.com, and in 3,700 Walmart stores.
Customers can choose to get a new phone number or transfer their existing one to MobileX to receive the complimentary service. MobileX says that current and new customers can request help via the MobileX app or by calling customer care at 833-422-1053 to confirm their SNAP participation and get free wireless service while their SNAP benefits are paused.
Adderton, who also founded Boost Mobile, has challenged larger competitors to take action to support concerned subscribers. He questioned why T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon are not offering assistance, despite MobileX being less financially stable. He expressed hope that others in the industry would join him.
Regarding claims of a publicity stunt, Adderton acknowledged a promotional aspect but emphasized the humanitarian principle behind the brand. He maintained their authenticity and genuine care, welcoming any interpretation of their efforts.
Previously, Verizon advised first responders, military personnel, and federal employees affected by shutdowns to request payment deferrals. AT&T offers payment deferral options for customers concerned about timely bill payments. T-Mobile stated that their customers remain their priority, and they will ensure they stay connected.
MobileX uses Verizon's 4G LTE and 5G network, including a "Gold Network" option for MobileX subscribers to receive higher data priority on the Verizon network.
