The Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera is expected to be a major selling point.

Here's how one photographer captures magical shots in Japan with nothing but her Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra was used to capture these images, demonstrating the remarkable advancements in mobile photography. Years ago, the idea of night shots with vibrant colors and sharp details seemed laughable. Yet, that level of quality is achievable today.
Photography enthusiasts may recognize elements of Tokyo Noir, Saul Leiter, Fan Ho, or chiaroscuro in Simona's photos. Her inspiration is diverse, and the result is a blend of color, subjects, symmetry, texture, and contrast, which creates a compelling narrative.
Simona mentioned that she chose the Galaxy S25 Ultra specifically for its camera. In her view, it is the best for taking photos. While she has experience with iPhones, she currently prefers Android.
Although the Galaxy S25 Ultra has several rear cameras, Simona favors the main one because of its versatility and superior image quality. The primary camera features a 200 MP sensor with OIS. PhoneArena's tests indicate that the S25 Ultra avoids the oversharpening seen in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and excels in low-light exposure.
Simona shoots in .jpeg format, which bypasses extensive post-processing, and edits her photos using VSCO, where she has a set of 5 or 6 preferred filters.
While HDR is often a celebrated feature, Simona believes it's not always necessary to illuminate every detail. She values the impact of silhouettes and strategic use of darkness:
She stated that images benefit from depth, atmosphere, and emphasis, which are created through light and shadow. She added that she enjoys playing with light and shadows and incorporating geometry.
Sensor size is not her top priority. She believes that having a large sensor does not automatically improve one's photography.
When traveling, she appreciates the speed and ease of phone photography, noting that there are no settings to adjust or lenses to change, which means that one never misses a moment.
She also brought a dedicated camera. More of her work can be found on her Instagram account.
Here is a list of phone options, including current models and older, more affordable ones:
Galaxy S25 Ultra or Galaxy S24 Ultra
iPhone 17 Pro Max or iPhone 17 Pro
Xiaomi 15 Ultra or Xiaomi 14 Ultra
Oppo Find X8 Ultra or Oppo Find X7 Ultra
Vivo X200 Ultra
Pixel 10 Pro XL
Ultimately, the decision is up to you.

The Phone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) have been around for 18 years. A quick search will reveal the impressive images captured with older iPhone models, suggesting that a 2025 flagship may not be essential.
All you need is a phone, some inspiration, and luck. You already have the first, and the others are within reach.
