The Galaxy S26, expected in 2026, may feature eight significant changes.

All the leaks, rumors, and changes Samsung fans should watch for.
Beyond typical upgrades to the chip, camera, and design, Samsung may adjust its naming conventions and models. Here's a summary of speculation surrounding the S26 series.
A potential lineup change: a Galaxy S26 Pro model replacing the Plus?
Samsung might make changes in 2026, with rumors suggesting the Galaxy S Plus line could be discontinued. A Galaxy S26 Edge might be introduced instead, although some reports still suggest four models could be available.
The standard Galaxy S26 could be renamed the Galaxy S26 Pro, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra name may remain. The brand's flagship lineup could have a different structure, at least nominally.
While the S25 series used Snapdragon 8 Elite processors exclusively, the S26 may see a return to using different processors based on the model. The Ultra might use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the standard (or Pro) and the Edge versions could use Samsung’s Exynos 2600.
The Exynos 2600 is based on a 2 nm process and is reportedly in mass production ahead of schedule. Although yields are not perfect, they are sufficient for Samsung to proceed with its plans.
The Exynos processor may not be available in all regions. The US and South Korea are expected to continue using Snapdragon processors exclusively.
Samsung's charging speeds have remained relatively stagnant. The S25 Ultra's 45W charging was underwhelming for a flagship in 2025. However, rumors suggest the S26 Ultra could be upgraded to 60W wired charging. While not the fastest, it would be an improvement.
Wireless charging may also be upgraded, with Samsung potentially adding Qi2 support, although it is unclear if all models will receive it. Leaks suggest the S26 Edge and Ultra will support it.
The Edge is rumored to have built-in magnets for Qi2 charging, similar to the iPhone Air and Pixel 10.
The Ultra's design poses a challenge. Initial rumors suggested Qi2 magnets would only be possible if the S Pen was removed, but more recent leaks suggest the S Pen will remain and may feature a minor redesign.
Leaks indicate a slightly redesigned S Pen for the S26 Ultra, with a rounder shape to match the softer design introduced with the S25 Ultra.
The Ultra is also expected to have more rounded corners, so the pen's design would align with this change.
Camera enhancements across the series
While there may not be a complete camera overhaul, some improvements are expected:
The Galaxy S26 may have a new camera sensor for improved image quality, although megapixel counts are expected to remain the same.
The Galaxy S26 Edge could include a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, in addition to its existing 200 MP main sensor.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra may use a new 200 MP Sony sensor, increasing the size to 1/1.1-inch (from 1/1.3-inch). While a minor numerical change, it would be a significant improvement for smartphone cameras.
Additionally, a credible source suggests variable aperture could return to the Ultra.
Potential design adjustments
The Galaxy S26's design may not be drastically different, but some changes are expected. The standard/Pro model could feature a thinner camera module with a redesigned lens assembly.
The Edge model could have a camera island spanning the phone's rear, similar to recent iPhones and Pixel phones.
The Ultra might be slightly thinner, with rumors suggesting a reduction of 0.4 mm compared to the S25 Ultra. While minor, the trend towards thinner phones may continue. Otherwise, its design may be similar to the current model.
A potentially improved display
The S26 Ultra could feature the new M14 OLED panel, which is rumored to offer greater brightness, improved durability, and better power efficiency. This could lead to enhanced visuals and improved battery performance and could be a significant incentive to choose the Ultra model.
