The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could see substantial camera improvements thanks to its LPDDR5X memory, with speeds reaching 10.7 Gbps, according to information shared by Ice Universe.
How the Camera Will Benefit from New RAM
The Galaxy S25 Ultra uses older RAM technology, topping out at 8.5Gbps. The Galaxy S26 Ultra's updated RAM should increase the speed of image and video data processing, enhancing the overall photography experience.
Ice provided several examples to support this claim. The faster RAM should reduce processing delays for the primary 200MP camera, especially in night mode, where processing can take up to two seconds.
Response and result delivery times should also improve due to the faster RAM speed, enabling the device to operate more complex AI models. This should lead to clearer, more detailed photos in low-light conditions.
The increased bandwidth should also improve 8K / 4K 120 fps video recording by ensuring a continuous, high-speed data flow to the camera processor. Camera switching speeds should also increase.
Image previews on the camera should be more accurate because image data will reach the display faster. RAW file export speeds could increase by 30 percent, which would be beneficial to professional photographers.
Portrait depth accuracy should also improve with the new RAM, offering greater precision. Astro mode should also see speed improvements from faster frame merging. Similarly, HDR video merging should also be quicker.
Ice also suggests that the 10.7 Gbps RAM could improve efficiency by up to 15 percent, preventing performance drops during extended photo and video recording.
Wider Performance Improvements
The new RAM should make the Galaxy S26 Ultra function more smoothly overall, while also accelerating background processes. Camera lag and overheating during long sessions can create issues over time.
Lower bandwidth can limit camera performance, which can negatively affect video quality. Moreover, quicker data transfer should minimize delays and reduce battery drain, extending battery life.
Key Improvements Expected
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature only one new sensor, making improvements such as the 10.7 Gbps RAM even more vital. With this and other rumored enhancements, like Adaptive Pixel and a focus speed slider, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could provide better results than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is already a leading camera phone.
