The Galaxy S26 Ultra may struggle if Samsung doesn't allow users to fully customize a rumored new feature.

We want control and we want it now.
Users dislike new phone features when they lack customization options to adjust them to individual preferences. Hopefully, Samsung will consider this when designing the Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected in January 2026.
Given that the Galaxy S25 Ultra wasn't a major improvement over the Galaxy S24 Ultra, high expectations surround the S26 Ultra. While not a bad phone, the S25 Ultra isn't different enough to recommend over a discounted S24 Ultra, or waiting for the S26 Ultra.
This anticipation stems from reports that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might include a significant display upgrade: Flex Magic Pixel.
This technology, developed by Samsung Display, utilizes AI to restrict viewing angles when sensitive applications are in use. Unlike privacy screen protectors that reduce brightness, Flex Magic Pixel aims to maintain display quality while safeguarding content from onlookers.
If these reports prove accurate, the S26 Ultra could be the first Samsung phone to feature this display technology, offering a practical edge over competitors.
This feature could prevent the need to hide the screen when accessing banking apps or personal photos in public. It would be beneficial even for those without sensitive information on their phones.
However, implementation is key.
If included in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Flex Magic Pixel should not be permanently enabled. Ideally, there would be a settings menu with options such as:
* Enable Flex Magic Pixel for all apps
* Enable Flex Magic Pixel for specific apps
* Disable Flex Magic Pixel
A sub-menu to select specific apps would be ideal.
While always-on functionality may appeal to some, many users will only want it for certain apps. Disabling the feature every time someone wants to share a photo with others would become tiresome.
Like physical screen protectors, Flex Magic Pixel will affect viewing angles. It narrows the visible screen area, which can limit the user's experience.
Overall, Flex Magic Pixel sounds promising if customization options are included. Hopefully, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will take a leap in display technology.
