The new Motorola Edge 70 aims to compete with the iPhone Air.

A mid-range ultra-thin smartphone with a relatively big battery and nice colors could help Motorola beat Apple and Samsung.

The Edge 70 has a 6.67-inch 120Hz pOLED display with a resolution of 2712x1220 px and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The screen features HDR10+ support and Pantone Validated colors.
All cameras on the Edge 70 use 50MP sensors. The rear setup includes a 24mm f/1.8 main camera with OIS and a 12mm f/2.0 ultrawide camera with PDAF and macro support. It has a portrait mode with 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm equivalent focal lengths, plus Motorola's 30x Super Zoom. The front camera also features a 50MP sensor and f/2.0 aperture.
Not exactly an affordable competitor
Motorola's ultra-thin phone costs €800 in Europe and £700 in the UK. The UK model includes a Moto Tag, Moto Buds Loop, Moto Watch Fit, and a 68W TurboPower charger. Motorola has not announced a US release for the Edge 70, but the European and UK prices convert to about $930.

With the Edge 70, Motorola seeks to rival the iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, but faces a challenge. While Apple and Samsung's devices are more expensive, they use flagship chipsets and are even thinner. However, Motorola's device has a larger battery, which may appeal to some users.
However, the iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge have not been very successful. Due to poor sales, Samsung delayed the Galaxy S26 series to replace the S26 Edge with an S26 Plus model. iPhone Air sales reports are mixed, but many analysts say sales are poor.
Maybe the last chance for slim phones
Although slim phones seem appealing, they are apparently difficult to sell. Many prefer a thicker device with better battery life. If Motorola has found the right balance, the Edge 70 could succeed. However, skepticism remains regarding the future of ultra-slim smartphones.
