Verizon is offering support to federal employees during the shutdown to keep them connected.
Customers can call 1-800-VERIZON to speak with support and will have to verify their federal or military employment to be eligible for payment deferrals. The program offers eligible users a temporary reprieve from late payments, ensuring uninterrupted service while the government is shut down.
Currently, Verizon is leading the way.

As of now, Verizon is the only major carrier providing direct assistance to federal workers impacted by the shutdown, which is a positive look for them. However, it likely won't be alone for very long.
T-Mobile and AT&T have often taken similar actions during difficult times, so it would not be surprising if they soon introduced their own programs. The three carriers have coordinated in the past, especially during national emergencies or disasters.

For example, during the California wildfires, all three provided temporary relief to help customers maintain active service while dealing with difficult circumstances.
Genuine help or smart PR – either way, it matters
Whether this action stems from CEO Dan Schulman's sincere desire to assist or from a well-timed PR effort, the result is what matters most. Federal workers and first responders facing financial challenges will receive some relief, which is what counts.
In times like these, corporate compassion can be very helpful, and Verizon's early response sets a strong example.
