WhatsApp's newest feature reportedly works better on Android devices.

Meta starts rolling out real-time translation for WhatsApp messages globally
Android users are receiving an improved version of a translation feature, but it will support fewer languages. After translating a message, they can enable automatic translation for the entire conversation and view translated versions of subsequent messages.
Conversely, iPhone users can access the feature in a broader range of languages. WhatsApp on iOS will support message translations across the 19 languages available in Apple’s Translate application. Android users will have access to translations in six languages:
English
Spanish
Hindi
Portuguese
Russian
Arabic
This new feature from Meta arrives shortly after Apple introduced Live Translation in its Messages app on iOS 26. This function operates automatically as users type, similar to the announced functionality for Android users on WhatsApp.
Automated translation is becoming increasingly prevalent, which is beneficial. While language learning can be enjoyable, reliable translation tools can simplify communication. Given WhatsApp's global user base, this feature may be more significant than Live Translation on the AirPods Pro 3, and it will likely be used frequently.
