The updated design has been in testing for a few weeks and may already be familiar to some users. The double-tap gesture for seeking is also updated, described by YouTube as "more modern and less intrusive," for smoother and less distracting skipping.
Improved motion design on mobile devices will make switching between tabs feel more responsive, creating a more fluid navigation experience.
Comment sections are also seeing changes, with YouTube officially rolling out threaded replies to all users after tests with Premium subscribers.

The updated layout groups replies, making conversations easier to follow and creating a cleaner, more organized discussion space. This is similar to comment threads on Reddit and reduces the chaos of long comment sections.
Saving videos to playlists or "Watch Later" is now more visual and easier, featuring smoother animations for a more efficient process.
