YouTube Music has updated its Now Playing interface on both Android and iOS.

Google frequently updates its apps in an effort to simplify the user experience. Following the Material 3 Expressive updates from earlier in the year, Google is now shifting buttons and controls to help users access app features more quickly.
The YouTube Music app has a redesigned interface on both iOS and Android. The updated Now Playing screen no longer has the Song/Video switcher at the top. The Cast icon is still located in the upper right corner next to the three-dot menu.
Controls such as the Shuffle, Skip Backward, Play, Skip Forward, and Repeat buttons are now located above the progress bar, which is also thicker. The Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down, Lyrics, and Song/Video Switcher buttons have replaced the Up Next button under the progress bar. Tapping the handle replaces the carousel with the action buttons. The Related menu and Lyrics can be expanded, and the song name is displayed when closed.
To try and get the YouTube Music Now Playing redesign on Android, go to Settings> Apps > All apps, then find YouTube Music and tap Force stop. Close and reopen the app. This may not work.
Google seems to constantly be making changes to its apps to keep them fresh. YouTube Music is available in the App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android.
YouTube Music's competitors are Spotify and Apple Music. Apple Music is considered to have the highest quality audio, with lossless music and Spatial Audio. Spotify is in the process of introducing lossless audio. Spotify is known for its UI and song recommendations.
YouTube Music has songs that are not available on Spotify or Apple Music. YouTube Music is a great choice for those who want a large music library. Apple Music is the best choice for those who want the highest quality music. Spotify and YouTube both have free ad-supported tiers.
