YouTube Music is getting a visual refresh.

Google is making changes to the YouTube Music app for Android and iOS.
The thumbs up and thumbs down icons have been redesigned with a different style than the older versions. The original, more detailed design used thin lines and included shirt cuffs, while the updated version has thicker lines and less realistic hands. In fact, all the updated icons now feature thicker lines, giving them a more modern look.
The use of thin lines previously created sharp, angular icons, while the thicker lines now create rounded icons. This can be seen in the Library icon, which displays a musical note inside a box. The thinner lines of the box previously delivered a sharper look compared to the updated icon, which uses a box made with thicker lines. The updated icons also utilize empty space effectively, as seen in the notification bell in the top right corner, where the bell's clapper has an opening not filled in like the older version.
The differences between the older and newer shuffle and sleep timer icons are significant, and the updated icons are also in the overflow menu. The updated version of the Go to album icon includes a reflection from the album's grooves, which is a nice detail.
The new design is being rolled out on YouTube Music for Android, iOS, and desktop. As of yet, the updated version of the YouTube Music app has not been received for a Pixel 6 Pro running Android 16 QPR2 Beta or an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 26.1 Beta 1.
